I know very little about some of the people on my friends list. Some people I know relatively well. I read your journals, or we have something else in common, and we chat occasionally. Some of you I hardly know at all. Perhaps you lurk, for whatever reason. But you friended me, and I thank you for your interest in my words.

But here's a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself. Any old thing at all. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: "Ah, there's so and so...they enjoy the savory aroma of monkey brains a la mode."

I'd love it if every single person who friended me would do this. Yes, even you people who I know really well. Then post this in your own journal and see what gems of knowledge appear.

I once bought a big 1982 Oldsmobile Delta 88 in the late 90's. It was spray painted black, and I just couldn't handle that so I found a shade of pink I liked and painted it with pink house paint and a roller.

Did that work? With the house paint I mean, didnt it peel off?

yes, it worked, because it had been primed with the black paint. :)

I used to fantasize about picking up and leaving the country, but once I did it, I was miserable, and I missed macaroni & cheese. But now I'm starting to have those fantasies again.

Mmmm, monkey brains...oh, right. Well, one thing about me is that I took a few or 10 years off from school, and now I'm a 30 year old sophomore in college =)

I went to uni late, I started when I was twenty five and took four years instead of three. I think sometime you can get a lot more out of it if you are older.

Well, for a more startling revelation I also really really like books. (Okay, not that startling). I finished Cloud Atlas by the way - it was really good. I think you'd like it, also. I might bring it down with me when I come to dog-sit.

Roderick! One of the greatest books ever :)

Nope, that's not my icon ... though I do need some more of my own!

I have a Catalina Macaw as a pet, as well as a red-eared slider turtle, and basset hound and an akita and two parakeets. There are pictures in my LJ ( tagged too) with picutres of all the animals except the turtle.

I'm starting the process of legally changing my adopted name Kristen back to my original name Jean :)

Jean

turtles are awesome when I was a kid we used to keep one in the pond and it hibrnated every year till it ran away! we have four cats and two dogs.

oh god names, I dont think people understand how loaded they are for adopted people. I kept my first name because I was an older adoption, but I changed it when I was 23 but i kept my first name as my middle name and Ive just recently changed it again. but my big sister still calls me by my original name because shes the one that named me. my sir name is my adoptive parents sirname as I didnt change it when I got married, but I'm really uncomfortable with it but wouldnt actualy be any more comfortable in having my bio parents sir name

I drive a mercury grand marquis and play the drums, and I listen to Christian metal.

whats the difference between christian metal and "normal" metal?
[info]magicalweasal wrote:

difference-
Different people will give you different answers. What I consider christian metal is a band that, as a band, acknowledge themselves as a christian band and will talk it about it openly online and in their lyrics. Demon Hunter is the strongest example, and one of my favorites, if not the. Ity's possible that some members of a band could be christian, but not others, or that the members of a band are christian but don't want to be a christian band. There are other christian metal bands that fit these characteristics besides demon hunter, but I'm not as familiar with them.

I'm a 31 year old man with a degree in theatre and a published erotica e-novel. I intend to seek a master's degree in art history and I currently work as a security supervisor. Pleased to make your acquaintance.

a degree in theatre? thats pretty cool. what aspect of it? one of my best friends has a degree in theatre design and productuin and the level of work and effort she had to put into her degree was crazy! I spent many a sleeples night with her sorting out costumes/props/lighting

My degree is in acting, but the only times I've ever made money in theatre was on the production side, once as a stage manager for a youth theatre program and once for writing music for a play a friend was directing. About the only thing I haven't handled has been costumes. As much as I love clothes I'm dangerous around a sewing machine. More likely to sew my hands together than anything else.

hmmm, any odd thing ...
I sometimes wear Garfield bedroom slippers. They have a big head on the front and a tail at the back.
Also I would like to live at the beach someday, but I don't think that's so odd.

Let's see-I'm a biblioholic (like an alcoholic, only I buy books instead of booze). I can drive a manual transmission car (also called a standard or stickshift-one with a gearshift) which is unusual in North America, and I have a singing range of two octaves and four or five notes.

And I am not afraid of snakes, which is handy since right now I work at a pet store.

ha! yeah my new years resoloution is to stop buying books because I have so many I havent yet read

Thats interesting about the manual transmission thing. here (UK) most people learn to drive manuals because there are still alot around and it just makes sense to be able to drive any sort of car.

I cant drive because I'm dypraxsic and have trouble with hand eye cordination, spacial awarenes, reflexes and geting my body to do several things at once.

I was born in Australia, and lived there until I was nine. You wouldn't know it now, though...some people hear something in my accent, but it's unusual. I don't really feel either Australian or British, though, and so feel quite displaced sometimes.

Curl up and sleep in them mostly, our cat's like sleeping in some very strange places, in the bath is probably the weirdest one.
